Egami Catholic Church

The history of Egami Catholic Church began in 1881 when four families who emigrated from Nagasaki City were baptized. Full-scale church construction began in 1917. It was designed by Yosuke Tetsukawa, who is famous for church architecture. All of this construction was funded by the income earned by the congregation from fishing.
The structure of the building is a structure with lovely colors such as white walls and blue windows, and a raised floor to avoid moisture. It was designated as an important cultural property of Japan in 2008 as a work with a high degree of perfection even in a wooden church in Japan.
